Our Founder: Gary VanDyke

Gary VanDyke, founder of Food for Orphans, began his journey to help vulnerable children in 1999. As a father of five, Gary carried a deep compassion for the needs of children, but everything changed after a mission trip to the slums of Lima, Peru.

“To watch the pain of these children’s suffering was impossible for me to bear. My life was changed forever.”

With a background in radio and television, Gary used his platform to speak out about the orphan crisis and the urgent need for food. He later visited orphanages around the world, from Africa to Latin America, and heard the same challenge repeatedly:

“The biggest challenge is a lack of food.”

Gary founded Food for Orphans to do one thing: feed hungry orphans, one meal at a time.
