Tragedy in Myanmar

On the night of Friday May 2nd and continuing on Saturday morning a terrifying cyclone, the worst storm in living memory, struck the regions around the main city of Yangon, flattening entire villages with winds of up to 120mph. The Irrawaddy delta was hit by a huge wave which swept away thousands of people.
Death toll estimates are now near 100,000 and the clock is ticking for those who survived. "The storm came into our village," said one man, "and a giant wave washed in, dragging everything into the sea. Houses collapsed, buildings collapsed, and people were swept away. I only survived by hanging on to a big tree." His wife and two children died.
Around 5,000 square kilometers (1,930 square miles) remain underwater, and more than a million homeless need emergency relief, a UN spokesman said.

Orphans Suffer Devastation
Orphans in one of the orphanages that Food for Orphans supports, had to be evacuated when the cyclone ripped the roof off the orphanage. The orphans lost most of their belongings and their food supply is virtually destroyed. Now they have crowded into another orphanage, which was already filled to capacity. These orphans need someone to provide food … now.
How You Can Help
With the demand for rice increasing because of the Myanmar cyclone, the price for a bag of rice in Myanmar has risen 61% and is expected to continue rising. We need our faithful supporters to step up and make a sacrificial gift to help feed these innocent orphans and get them back on their feet. You can feed 2 orphans every day with a $25 monthly commitment. A $100 donation will provide 250 meals.
